The name “Fetish Fair Fleamarket” was coined by Cecilia Tan when she ran the first event of its kind in the Boston area in July 1992. That very first Fetish Fair Fleamarket was held at the Charlestown/Somerville Holiday Inn, and several of the first few events were in that same location. The FFF has been held roughly every six months since then, and the original charity benefiting from the event — then called NLA: New England and now called NELA — has since taken over the production and management of the event.

By joint agreement with Cecilia, NELA took the step of applying for a trademark on the name “Fetish Fair Fleamarket” in 2000. “Fetish Fair Fleamarket” is a registered trademark of the New England Leather Alliance, and is used by FetishFairFleamarket.com and FFF Productions with permission.
